Linda         Mehmet        Teaching Philosophy        DJing

Linda

Linda discovered Argentine Tango in 1995 while living in France and was immediately charmed by its beauty.  She brought her love of Tango back to the United States, where she continued exploring the many intricacies of the dance. Soon after, she began teaching and promoting the close-embrace style of tango in her hometown of Atlanta.

She has studied tango with master instructors like Susana Miller, Brigitte Winkler, Alex Krebs, Cacho Dante, Carlos Gavito, and Daniela & Armando.  She participated in the tango festivals in Spain, Miami, Buenos Aires, and Portland.

Mehmet (Marc)

Mehmet’s passion for dance started with West Coast Swing in 1998.  When he was introduced to Tango two years later, he found himself captivated by the music and dance.  Since then Mehmet studied tango intensively with various instructors of the Tango world and focused on the close-embrace.

Master instructors like Rebecca Schulman, Pablo Veron, Omar Vega, Gustavo Naveira, Brigitte Winkler, Susana Miller, Alex Krebs, and Daniela & Armando contributed to his development.

DJing:

Mehmet started DJing in early 2006.  At first he DJed during practicas and outdoor milongas (social tango dances) and later at other milongas.  Nowadays he DJs mainly at Milonga Color and from time to time at other milongas as long as he finds time from his regular work and tango teachings.

Mehmet’s DJing style is based on playing only the best danceable tango music each and every time.  He defines “starter songs” as songs that will make you stand up and dance.  He believes every song during a milonga should be a starter song.  In his opinion whether it is the very first song or the last during a tanda (set of 4 songs) or the whole milonga, the music he plays should make everyone move.  He also chooses songs that are rich in variety so that the music touches every one’s soul from a different angle.  His ultimate DJing goal is to see everyone dancing during the whole milonga.

Although he has a traditional Tango DJing style, you should not be surprised if he plays in nontraditional ways as long as he feels it is appropriate for the dance crowd he constantly watches.
